Did you use the "o" option to tar, as in
	tar xvfo MinneView-0.1.tar
?

The (unfortunate!) default for "tar" is to change ownership of the files
and directories it creates, so you don't own them.  The typical result
is to create the top-level directory and then discover that it can't
create any files in it.  Try ls -l in the directory it just unpacked.
You may have a hard time getting rid of the new directory; it may be
that only a system administrator with superuser privilege can do that.
You might be able to rename it though, using "mv".

The "o" option means "don't change owner" and prevents this problem.
