[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] FORMS for X?
I'm curious whether anyone has considered porting FORMS as an X toolkit -- not in the sense of GL/X, but as a toolkit depending only on X, i.e. supporting user interfaces for possibly-non-SGI X-based systems. The issues I imagine would need to be resolved are related to events (X events are richer than GL's, but correspond tolerably well I think), color handling (maybe an emulation library to choose a decent real color or dither-pattern, given a requested color and whatever the X server offers, would do) and fonts (here I'm unsure of a good way to go, but there may be hope if only a modest set of fonts is promised as in FORMS 2.0). With such an environment X might be almost usable. Anyone thought about this? Stuart Levy, Geometry Center, University of Minnesota slevy at geom.umn.edu
