I'd agree that would be useful; it still isn't extremely easy, though.
The small change to allow Renderman snapshotting of conformal etc. views
doesn't help in extracting the same data in geomview form.  [We'd need
something like an "OOGL" mg device, which accumulated graphics primitives
at draw time and spat them out as an OOGL object!]  This definitely would
be handy, and we'll probably do it some day.
