Yes, I guess it probably was compiled dynamically which meant if you didn't have the right X11 libraries you wouldn't be able to get it to run. You are in luck, however, since we will be releasing a newer version (1.5) in about a week or so, which is statically linked. You have two options as I see it: 1. You can wait a little bit longer and get the 1.5 release in about a week or so, along with everyone else. or 2. You can become a beta tester for X Geomview and get a 1.5 prerelease right now.
