Date: Thu, 9 Feb 1995 10:07:44 -0800 From: johnson at mercury.ee.ucla.edu (Michael Johnson) To: register at geom Subject: Geomview I'm looking for a relatively simple 3-D visualization program to use as a frontend geometry viewing tool for a locally (UCLA) created Finite-Difference Time Domain Electromagnetic Modeling program. In our FDTD program, we define surfaces in a cartesian grid. I'm looking for a way to visualize our model to verify that the input file is correct. Ultimately, I would like to use the 3D frontend to "draw" the object to be modeled. Do you think Geomview is a good package for the applicaiton I have in mind? If not, can you suggest an alternative? At present, we simply generate a postscript file (that can't be rotated) and view it with ghostview. I have tried several times to download your program without success. (both via the Mosaic http method and ftp through Mosaic). The download seems to go o.k. until the end. I then get a "uncompress error" and some errors indicating unable to create files. Do you have any idea what I'm doing wrong? I'm running the FDTD program on an IBM RISC/6000 and would like to obtain the IBM Binary. Thank you Mike Johnson
