For Postscript, try the PS Snapshot program on the modules browser.
It doesn't always do the right thing, but can look quite nice.
Alternatively, if you have the SGI version, see the "SGI Snapshot"
option on the Save panel.  SGI's program /usr/sbin/tops converts an SGI
image file to Postscript.

Incremental control is possible using the geomview command language;
look at the "transform" command.  However, it might be easier to
just make the object temporarily invisible (turn off faces and/or edges
by pressing buttons on the Appearance panel, or type "af" or "ae" with the
mouse in the graphics window.)  Make it invisible while you move it, leaving
only the bounding-box for visible feedback, then make it visible again
(the buttons and "af"/"ae" key sequences are toggles).
