Yes, this is possible to some extent by using raw events. I've put
some example code that demonstrates how to make 3D "gadgets" in
Geomview (3D buttons, sliders, etc...), in our ftp directories. It's
on ftp.geom.umn.edu in /priv/daeron/src/gvui.tar.Z

To check it out, download this file and untar it so that the code is in
$GEOMROOT/src/bin/gv-ui/*. It *must* be in this location or it won't
compile. Once you've gotten it to compile for your machine, just run
Geomview while you are in the gv-ui/ directory and click on the "testgad"
external module that should appear. Using the right mouse button you can
drag the sliders or click on the buttons. Have fun!

This is a problem with not having your delete key mapped correctly to work
with Motif. This can be fixed by feeding the correct arguments to
xmodmap in your X11 startup script (usually .xinitrc). I can't
remember exactly what these arguments are though. You might try
looking in the Motif FAQ.

I've read it and several other people have as well. :-) The mailing
list is mostly to distribute information about new releases and the
like, so there is very little traffic on it. We've debated having a
real "discussion" mailing list but we find that most questions users
ask can usually be answered best by our techstaff.
