The released version of Geomview does not include an OpenGL
driver.  However, the X version will do everything the SGI
version does, just slower (much slower, depending on your
machine).

An OpenGL driver is being developed, but is not yet in publically
releasable form (bugs with the hardware shader, etc...).  If
you're feeling adventurous and have experience in building large
programs, I could let you have a snapshot of the development tree
and you could try compiling it yourself (we don't have an alpha,
so we don't have binaries lying around).

No.  You could you the XForms package to compile your program for
X.  This is a very nice clone of the forms library, and you
should only need to perform minor changes to make your program
work.  For information about xforms, check out
