[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] [ REQ 5669]: Compilation problems with Geomview
I have been using the SGI version of Geomview for about a year now and liked it so much that I introduced it to the rest of the students in the CAGD lab here at Arizona State. It has helped me tremendously with my Ph.D. research and dissertation. Although most of my questions have been answered in the documentation, I have a couple of problems remaining. The first problem is that I would like to be able to run it over the local network in the lab, but FORMS won't let you do that. As an alternative, I tried to compile the X11 version of Geomview to run on an SGI but it failed to compile. Would it be possible to either fix the compilation problems or make a compiled X11 version for SGI machines available for download? We're running IRIX 5.3. The other problem is with PS Snapshot. I know that the postscript output ignores changes made with colors, lighting, material properties, etc., however, certain colors which I specify within "CNOFF" files are _not_ ignored. Is there any documentation about what affects PS Snapshot output, and (especially) is there any way of increasing the brightness of shaded polygons? One final question: Is there any interface between Geomview and a public domain raytracing package such as POV-Ray? I think Geomview would be nicely suited for arranging objects as well as camera and lighting angles for such programs. Thank you for the help and making this package freely available!
