I have linux installed on a pentium 60 MHz and I run XF86_VGA16 as the X server. My problem is that geomview gives me the following error X-Geomview currently supports only 24, 8, and 1 bit deep displays. No supported display depth was found. Please mail the output of "xdpyinfo" to software@geom.umn.edu In a couple of days I plan on using the VGA256 X server (I need to get more RAM). I don't know if that will make a difference. Anyway, here is the ouput from xdpyinfo name of display: :0.0 version number: 11.0 vendor string: The XFree86 Project, Inc vendor release number: 3110 maximum request size: 4194300 bytes motion buffer size: 0 bitmap unit, bit order, padding: 8, MSBFirst, 32 image byte order: LSBFirst number of supported pixmap formats: 2 supported pixmap formats: depth 1, bits_per_pixel 1, scanline_pad 32 depth 4, bits_per_pixel 8, scanline_pad 32 keycode range: minimum 8, maximum 134 focus: window 0x80000d, revert to Parent number of extensions: 9 BIG-REQUESTS MIT-SCREEN-SAVER MIT-SHM MIT-SUNDRY-NONSTANDARD Multi-Buffering SHAPE SYNC XC-MISC XTEST default screen number: 0 number of screens: 1 screen #0: dimensions: 800x600 pixels (271x203 millimeters) resolution: 75x75 dots per inch depths (2): 1, 4 root window id: 0x24 depth of root window: 4 planes number of colormaps: minimum 1, maximum 1 default colormap: 0x20 default number of colormap cells: 16 preallocated pixels: black 0, white 1 options: backing-store YES, save-unders YES largest cursor: 32x32 current input event mask: 0x50003d KeyPressMask ButtonPressMask ButtonReleaseMask EnterWindowMask LeaveWindowMask SubstructureRedirectMask PropertyChangeMask number of visuals: 1 default visual id: 0x0 visual: visual id: 0x0 class: PseudoColor depth: 4 planes available colormap entries: 16 red, green, blue masks: 0x0, 0x0, 0x0 significant bits in color specification: 6 bits
