You may have saved the file in "Commands" format; that would be unreadable
to "clip".  If first line of the file is "(progn", that's the problem.
Try selecting "Geometry" instead of "Commands" on the Save panel.

(Even though clip can't read the file you've made, geomview can, so you can
simply start geomview again, load the file you've got, then save again,
choosing the proper format.)
