[ REQ 5856]: Is it possible to run geomview with no windows?

Thanks for your help with my colleague's (Dave Rideout) earlier
question (req 5834) regarding bitmap output on the generic X
version of geomview. We installed the beta 1.6.0 gvx and it works=20
fine for us (on DEC Alpha).

We are using geomview as a rendering engine to produce frames=20
from which we make mpegs using mpeg_encode. Is it possible
to run geomview without bringing up any windows? I use the
-nopanels switch so that no panels appear. I tried to use
the -wins 0 switch but then the (zoom ...) and (snapshot ...)
commands in our simple command file:
  (geometry oogl)
  (zoom c0 .999)
  (snapshot c0 pic.ppm ppm)
  (exit)
generate errors:
zoom: id expected in arg position 1 (got w)
 =20
)apshot: id expected in arg position 1 (got =C0=BF

which I assume is due to the lack of display window.

Thanks,
Simeon.
