Re: [Update REQ 5883]: Geomview Linux installation

Thanks for your very prompt reply. I downloaded the file 1.5.x-linux-elf.tar.gz,
"unpacked" it using gunzip and tried to execute the result by typing "geomview".
I got the same result as before "bin/bash: ./geomview Unable to execute binary
file"

The file seemed to unpack sucessfully to over 10 MB. I could view both the
zipped and the unzipped version and the verbage was unchanged.

There must be some really fundamental step I'm missing in all this.

My knowlege of Unix/Linux is based entirely on a successful (I think)
installation of Linux from a Slackware CD ROM. I compiled a kernel 1.2.8 for my
system and setup XWindows using X11R6. Geomview is the first application beyond
those included in the Slackware distribution I've attempted and is the primary
reason I have installed Linux on my system.

I say all of this so you won't assume I know anything that might be obvious to
even a novice Unix user.
