Hi.  That version (geomview-sgi.tar.gz) contains COFF binaries compiled
under Irix 4.  SGI dropped support for these things as of Irix 6.2.

We also have newer binary distributions, though, which do include ELF
binaries which Irix 6.2 wants.  The latest is
  ftp://geom.umn.edu/priv/slevy/geomview-161b8-sgi.tar.gz

This is still a beta release, but should be nearly final.
If you try it, please let us know how it works for you.
