Our access to DEC Alphas is very limited -- just one, running V3.2,
and it's on the far end of a very slow Internet connection. It probably
would be best if you tried compiling it yourself.

We've had reports of trouble running our precompiled Alpha version of
geomview -- people find that it crashes frequently. I'm not sure whether
this is a cc optimization bug, or a real bug in the geomview code that
appears only on the Alphas.  You may want to compile with no optimization;
that is, edit Geomview/makefiles/Makedefs.global and change
COPTS = -O
to just
COPTS =
before compiling, along with the other changes suggested in the INSTALL file.

If you try this, please let us know how it goes.
