Thanks for your note. Hardware-accelerated OpenGL X servers for PC hardware under Linux are just on the verge of becoming available -- both Metrolink and X Inside Graphics have announced intention to release some over the next few months. I agree that depending on PC hardware for fast, inexpensive 3D graphics is the way to go, but I personally hope to see that happen within the free-software/Unix community rather than under anything controlled by Microsoft. Another big problem with porting geomview to windows: it's a lot of work, and the Geometry Center funding that had supported Geomview development no longer exists, since the Center has closed. Rebuilding geomview to use a different OpenGL library under Linux is easy enough to get done in somebody's spare time, but not so for a port to a different operating system, even if it could greatly increase geomview's popularity. Although I don't know about other developers' plans, it's not something I intend to work on. Stuart Levy, (no longer of the) Geometry Center, University of Minnesota slevy at ncsa.uiuc.edu
