The "LDEFINE(ack, ...)" macro expands to a function delcaration of the form LObject *ack(Lake *lake, LList *args) so the local variable "lake" shadows the argument. I'm surprised the compiler didn't notice and complain about this, but in any case, avoid the name "lake" (and also "args") in functions declared with LDEFINE. The convention, which must of course be strictly adhered to, is to use the names of actual lakes for lake variables (calhoun, powderhorn, etc). --Mark
