[ REQ 5266]: Geomview: (interest( pick world))

Hi -

I'm trying to finish up a Tcl/Tk based GUI, which uses Geomview as a display
engine for certain options. This is for use in 3D ultrasound imaging.

I've had a couple of frustrating days trying to get vertex "picking" to
work properly on my linux box (later to be moved to a Sun).

I've replaced the Geomview interface with a limited set of control
options using a Tk Gui. It seems to me that geomview would be much easier
to integrate into other GUIs if it was based on tcl ?? ;-)

anyway i'll try to present my problem simply ,without using tcl:

in each of the following i startup geomview, with a .geomview file in my
project directory:

(1) .geomview: "(echo (geomview-version))"
returns "1.5" when i startup geomview

(2) .geomview: "(interest (pick world))"
doesnt return anything when i pick a node in an object

(3) .geomview: ""
    Command panel: "(interest (pick world))"
returns "(pick World HingeDodec (....." when i pick a node in an object

that is essentially the problem i am having while using tcl/tk. one of my
GUI buttons just waits on the input pipe for something to be picked.
it hangs, since geomview doesnt return anything when a node is picked.
the problem is cured when i add the (interest (pick world)) command
interactively.

NOTE: (regtable) _does_ say that i have registered an interest in option (2)

i hope you can help.
it looks like i'm doing something wrong with geomview rather than tcl/tk.
or maybe its linux?? (i'm running 1.1.59)

excellent job btw!

Cheers, Mike
