[ REQ 5273]: sun4 binary problems

Dear Geometry Center -

More and more people are expressing an interest in using 'geomview' here at 
the University of Pretoria Electronic Engineering - unfortunately I can't seem 
to get the sun4 binaries working (current development is done on Linux 486's).

Specifically, having untarred the binary on our Sun Sparc Server 1000, and 
'telnet'ting in from my 486 'pangea', I get an error message:

Error: Can't open display: pangea:0.0

Although my first reaction was incorrect authority settings or ill-defined 
display variables, this didn't seem to be the case: all other x-based or 
openwin applications worked fine.

Using the geomview-1.5.0-sun4-patch1.tar simply changed the error message to:

Error: Can't Open display

Telnet from other Linux machines or other X-terminals (using as window 
managers: fvwm, ctwm, olvwm) doesn't help - all give the same error message.

Our Sun runs: SunOS 5.3 Generic_101318 sun4d sparc. 

Any help, comments or suggestions will be much appreciated.
