NOTE: I've also replied to the copy of this message that you
posted to a few newsgroups. I'm mailing you a copy to because
our newserver isn't the most reliable one out there. :(

Hmmm... perhaps we shouldn't have used the term "generic" in the
announcement -- it was meant to refer to the fact that the
rendering engine uses straight Xlib, and doesn't need OpenGL,
PEX, etc.... Motif is required to compile Geomview. I believe
there are some companies that will provide Motif development
libraries for *BSD. You could also try compiling with LessTif, a
Motif clone currently being developed by the Hungry Programmers.
We have not tried this, so you're pretty much on your own.
LessTif can be found at
http://www.cs.uidaho.edu:8000/hungry/microshaft/lesstif.html. If
you try this route, there's one other tricky bit --
src/lib/oogl/util/futil.c needs to know about the internals of
the FILE structure.

We are currently only using Linux on the Intel platforms because
it seems to be the most popular and well supported free unix. If
we get feedback from people requesting a *BSD binary, we will
consider devoting the time to install one of the BSDs (which
one?) and compiling Motif and Geomview. So far you're the only
one who has requested a *BSD binary.
