Hello,

  If you are using linux with the X server in 16 bit mode, try
grabbing the following replacement binary for "gvx":

ftp://ftp.geom.umn.edu/priv/daeron/bin/gvx.linux.gz

Just un-gzip this file and use it as a drop in replacment for
the file $GEOMROOT/bin/linux/gvx in your installed Geomview
distribution.
