[ REQ 5791]: geomview prob on sgi

I have a problem using the SGI Geomview, and was wondering if you
could answer it or refer me to the proper source:

It *almost* runs perfectly on our Personal Irises with IRIX Release
4.0.5 System V.  The GUI is fine, but the camera window does not
display any image (only a reversed-video of what's behind it).  It
gives an error message as the camera window pops up (message
paraphrased):

   ERROR #98: gconfig:insufficient number of bitplanes on RGBMode. ERR_INVALID_MODE

   But the manuals say (or seem to) that the actual number of
bitplanes supported by the hardware is irrelevant for display.
