[ REQ 5795]:

Hello,

Thank you for your software Geomview. It is great. I am using it
in the presentation of my results for solving pdes defined on
the sphere using the finite element method. I am a PhD student.

Now I have a question. I refer to the Geomview manual, Geomview
version 1.5, October 21, 1994, Mark Philips. On page 68, there is
an example 1 : a simple external module. The example describes
how one can use Geomview to display data as it is generated and
so obtain moving pictures. The example uses the OOGL MESH.

My question is : how does one do this with an OOGL OFF? I use
the OFF because I am using the finite element method. Now of
course one could output the entire OFF file every time new data
is generated, but this would be wasteful , since the
second half of the OFF file is always the same, namely the list
of faces in terms of the vertex numbers.

Thus what I would like to be able to do is use the same list
of faces and just update the vertices. The problem I describe
is alluded to in the manual but no example is given. Perhaps the
solution uses handles somehow ... Please help.

Eagerly awaiting a reply,

Yours sincerely,

Alan Murray
