It's our problem alright. Sorry. Thanks for the quick reply. > Are HP's OpenGL libraries commercially available yet, or still in development? > I see now the Open GL FAQ mentions such libraries as "becoming available > March 1996". We have some HP 712's here, with the smart 8-bit framebuffers > with simulated truecolor visuals. (This isn't an offer for us to work on it, > but I'd like to know what's feasible.) HP has had OpenGL with the Evans & Sutherland Freedon graphics for some time now, but the price on those things makes it not a cost effective solution for most people. Template has recently announced a software implementation of OpenGL for HP, sanctioned by HP. I think this is what you saw as available March 96. Along the same lines, there is a public domain software implementation called Mesa which has some bugs. We're working on several OpenGL products which haven't been publically announced yet. As I mentioned, a demo should be in order at SIGGRAPH. We hope to put a beta out sometime this summer. I think the real products will hit the market sometime in early 1997. You didn't hear me say that. :-) I'm not sure what kind of fb you have in your 712 (I haven't been here at HP long enough to be an HP product-line guru yet). If the device doesn't have 3D acceleration (doesn't sound like it) then the Template implementation is probably your best bet. -paul martz at shaft.fc.hp.com
