[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] [ REQ 5833]: goemview questions
I have just downloaded geomview and installed it on a Sun - it sort of works fine. My intention is to evaluate geomview for visualizing finite element models generated with our in-house finite element, structural acoustics program. I have already written a geomview interface from our software and displayed models. This entire process took 4 hrs; needless to say I'm impressed with the ease of use and intuitive object data structures. One problem I have is when executing external modules I get the following errors: ld.so: warning: /usr/openwin/lib/libXt.so.4.1 has older revision than expected 10 ld.so: libXext.so.4: not found ld.so: warning: /usr/lib/libc.so.1.8 has older revision than expected 9 ld.so: warning: /usr/lib/libc.so.1.8 has older revision than expected 9 I think that our version of X11 is out-of-date, causing the errors and I am going to ignore for the time being. However, I have a question. Our models typically contain a number of materials including structure and fluids which I can color-code for visualization. Is there a way that I can structure input so that I can plot the whole model and then interactively look at selected materials (objects?)?. Just some historical info: our codes (SARA-2D/3D) are used by 10-15 DoD, commercial and university sites for structural acoustic support to the Navy; primarily for underwater acoustic problems. We develop and distribute the software under government contract, free-of-charge, to authorized users. We concentrate on the finite element algorithms and assume pre- and post-processing will be done external to our software and provide interfaces to IDEAS, PATRAN, MATLAB, TECPLOT, and Moviestar (old Brigham Young FE visualization code). We are looking for a visualization package we can support and recommend to our user community for visualizing models (and later results). You can find info on our codes at BBN's www.bbn.com site if you are interested. We are also pursuing commercialization of the software for release within the next year.
