[ REQ 5854]: geomview problem

I downloaded the tar version for linux (elf binaries) and installed it on 
my machine.  When I attempt to run I get the following error:

[1]+  Segmentation fault      (core dumped) ./geomview

I attempted to download and reinstall everything, but this did not help.

Can you give any suggestions as to what I might try.
