[ REQ 5949]: Building Geomview on FreeBSD

Hi,

  For some reason, neither FreeBSD's default make nor GNU make can figure
out the makefiles that come with Geomview.  (I haven't, either, but that's
a different story).  When I type "make" in the top level directory, it
does the subdirs thing and runs "make" in all the subdirs, but it doesn't
actually accomplish anything in the subdirs.  The first actual command it
tries to run is the "ar" to create ../../../lib/freebsd/lib3d.a:

> make
\tcd doc ; make SITE=default all
\tcd makefiles ; make SITE=default all
\tcd src ; make SITE=default all
\tcd lib ; make SITE=default all
\tcd geometry ; make SITE=default all
/usr/bin/ar r ../../../lib/freebsd/lib3d.a */O.freebsd/*.o
ar: */O.freebsd/*.o: No such file or directory
*** Error code 1

(yes, it also prints "\t" instead of tab).

Any suggestions of what to look for?
