To get the libraries mentioned in the manual, yes, you would need to get the source distribution and compile it yourself. It's of course not essential to use the Geomview/OOGL libraries to write programs that interact with geomview. In case you're familiar with Tcl/Tk, there's a sample program which demonstrates bidirectional communication, including picking, in ftp://geom.umn.edu/priv/slevy/geomview-picker.tcl To use this you'd need to have tcl/tk installed -- it's available from ftp://ftp.smli.com:/pub/tcl. You might want to try the latest beta release of the geomview source: it's now up for FTP from geom.umn.edu as priv/slevy/geomview-161b6-src.tar.gz I haven't tried it on a Dec Alpha, and it's likely not everything will build; it's probably best to use "make -k" when building it.
