Hi.  There's a new release including some relevant features:
it can write internally-rendered PPM images of the view in a window,
and also has a built-in Postscript snapshot which respects (most) appearance
properties.  Both are on the Save panel and accessible via the
(snapshot ...) command. 

You can get the distribution packages from
   ftp://geom.umn.edu/priv/slevy/geomview-161b8-src.tar.gz (source)
or for various types of systems (solaris, hpux, linux) under names like
the above, e.g.
   ftp://geom.umn.edu/priv/slevy/geomview-161b8-solaris.tar.gz

This is a beta release -- if you try it, let us know how it works.
