[ REQ 5882]: Porting Geomview to Irix5

Dear Geometry Center folks!

My name ist Jan Jockusch, and I work at the Institute of
Technology of Bielefeld University in Germany. Our group
is chiefly concerned with research in the fields of
neuroinformatics and robotics.

I have played around with Geomview (Linux version) for
some time, and plan to use it for visualisation of
robot movements and complex functions. The machine I
use here is an SGI Indigo^2 IMPACT, running under Irix5
(perhaps Irix6, some day).

The binary distribution of Geomview for SGI does not
execute on the IMPACT. I suppose that's because the
IMPACT uses OpenGL, but since I have no experience with
Ygl or OpenGL programming, I cannot tell for sure.

I would like to know if you have already implemented a
special version of Geomview for Indigo^2's, or if you
have any hints on making the regular Geomview distribution
work on this machine.

Thank you very much for supplying such an easy-to-use
visualisation tool! I'm looking forward to using it
regularly.

Yours,

Jan Jockusch,
