[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] [ REQ 6125]: Geomview on PC and no Motif
I just downloaded the latest version of Geomview source. It was my intention
to use it on two platforms. First, the Apollo in my University office, which has
X11R5 but not Motif. The other platform is a PC running NT.
I realize that Geomview is not directly supported on either of these platforms.
However, the latest version of Mesa (2.1) is supported. In looking over the caveats
included with both systems, I see one major stumbling block. Geomview uses Motif
for menuing! Mesa has a set of widgets that are similar to, and claim to be better
than, Motif. If I use them, I will be able to port to any system with Mesa and not
Motif. Can you give me a guess about how deeply, and how far spread, Motif widgets
are in the Geomview code. Would a restructuring to the Mesa widgets be a major
job, or primarily a mechanical conversion. Is the code localized in a particular set
of the source files?
It's decision time. Any help would be appreciated.
